Ode to the Greatest smartphones ever made : Introduction

Ode to greatest smartphones ever made : Intro

Last few years have been quiet monotonous in innovations in smartphone technologies. Rather than something radically different, smartphones just keep getting bigger, slimmer, sharper and lighter. Rather than curious looking new designs that get your creative juices flowing, all we see are manicured and lustrous white rectangles made out of aluminium or poly carbonate plastic.

Coming to the technicalities, the flagship models are way too overpowered for a normal use and my 6 year old desktop hides in shame when confronts them. Displays and processors are in the race of "Mine is bigger than yours" epic battle and reached the zenith of idiocy when a smartphone manufacturer launched a 6.5 inch display device and called it a "phone" than a tablet. Yes a phone, which covers half the face when talking and practically you can use it as a tray, or eat chowmein on its Gorilla Glass 4 (sauce and fork resistant by the way).
See children, in our days phones were just  phones meant for calling and part time texting to friends. Games meant snake III and color display was a novelty. battery low meant that we had to charge it after 11 hours and they were virtually indestructible

.
Then Darwin's dream came true and phones started to evolve into something bigger and better day and night. Bluetooth, which was a like a black magic back in the 1990's and 2000's became a household used property. The phones gradually chucked out other gadgets out of competition which they did not see coming. Digital cameras in Nokia killed Kodak, Music players in Sony Ericsson killed music players by Sony and radios in mobiles killed radios in radios. All of it was never expected.
So here I start this web series of articles looking back in the decade and focusing on The legendary devices which changed the way we interacted with these marvels and modified our lifestyle around them. Phones which stood the test of time and stay down the memory lanes of fond users. phones which were either radical in design, productivity, usage or all of them. In this series we focus on these devices so to better appreciate the technology industry and the strides they take in innovation and creativity.
